What is CorTen Steel?
CorTen Steel is a trademarked name owned by U.S Steel, which stands for Corrosion Resistant and Tensile Strength.
This ultra-durable material is made up of copper, chromium, and minimal carbon content.
The deliberate oxidation process results in the formation of an iron oxide layer that protects the material underneath from corrosion. This “rust” layer acts as a barrier to prevent further corrosion, making it a long-lasting reliable and durable material for use in various industries, including construction and landscaping.
